The Continuing Campaign to Save the Former Doncaster Gate Hospital
December the 30th, 2013
In 2008 Rotherham MBC Councillors agreed to extend the Town Centre Conservation Area to include the site of the former Doncaster Gate Hospital.  This was never done.Last year the Council opened its new offices at Riverside House and the former Hospital was vacated.  Rotherham District Civic Society has always viewed the original 1870 Hospital building as one of the towns' most important Victorian buildings.  We nominated it as an Asset Of Community Value but this was rejected by the Council.  We now have until the 24th January 2014 to suggest new uses for the building.  We are working with The Friends of Doncaster Gate Hospital to develop our plans.  We would welcome any help from inividuals or groups who share our concern.
